ISO 9001:2026 is published: what changes for certified organisations

ISO published the new edition of ISO 9001 in September 2026. It replaces ISO 9001:2015. Organisations that are already certified will have a transition period, expected to be about three years, to move to the new edition. Your certification body will confirm the exact deadline.

The structure stays familiar. The main changes are:

  • more weight on quality culture and ethical behaviour, led by top management
  • a more active approach to risks and opportunities
  • clearer requirements for planning and managing changes
  • climate change considered as part of the organisation's context
  • more attention to organisational knowledge

What to do now: read the new edition, compare it with your current system, and plan the changes into your next internal audit and management review. QUALIO runs ISO 9001:2026 transition training and gap assessments. Contact us to plan yours.

QUALIO becomes a PECB partner

QUALIO now works with PECB as a partner organisation. This means we can deliver PECB certified courses in Kigali, such as ISO 9001 Lead Implementer and ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.

Participants who pass the PECB exam receive a credential recognised by employers around the world, without having to travel abroad for the course.

This adds to our status as a training provider validated by Rwanda Standards Board. Ask us about the next sessions.
